New Release: Civil Living
Today, I’m honored to share something that’s been years in the making: the publication of my book, Civil Living: Finding Civility In Society, In Our Interactions, and Within Ourselves (link).
Civil Living is a series of essays that represent a deep and ongoing exploration of how we live, relate, and show up in a world that often feels anything but civil.
Why Civil Living?
Because the world is noisy right now.
Divisiveness seems to be the norm. Public discourse has grown more reactive, more hostile. Conversations—online and in person—are often reduced to outrage, accusations, and rigid thinking. And while this isn’t new in human history, it feels especially acute today.
Civility, at its root, doesn’t mean politeness for politeness’s sake. It’s not about pretending we all agree or staying quiet in the face of injustice. It’s about choosing to engage intentionally—with integrity, self-awareness, and a commitment to shared humanity.
What the Book Covers
Civil Living explores civility on three interconnected levels:
- Within ourselves — cultivating self-knowledge, inner peace, and self-respect
- In our relationships — learning how to listen, speak, and interact with open-mindedness and clarity
- Across society — considering what it means to live as a citizen, in the broadest and most human sense of the word
The book doesn’t offer easy answers. Instead, it invites reflection. It challenges the reader to examine how we respond to conflict, how we shape our inner voice, and how we participate in the shared spaces we call community.
Part of Something Bigger
This book is part of a larger creative project called Blocks of Life—a multidisciplinary journey across writing, music, poetry, video, and personal essays. Each piece is a thread in a larger tapestry: an effort to understand what it means to live meaningfully in the modern world.
Who It’s For
If you’ve found yourself overwhelmed by the hostility in the world…
If you’ve longed for deeper conversations, more thoughtful engagement, or a greater sense of purpose…
If you believe, even quietly, that we can be better to each other and to ourselves…
Then Civil Living is for you.
