My name is Pete Wiley, and Blocks of Life is the creative home for my music, writing, poetry, and video work — all centered on living with intention, meaning, and emotional honesty.
At the heart of Blocks of Life is music. As a songwriter and recording artist, I create acoustic-rooted songs that explore the inner landscapes of being human — uncertainty, connection, longing, hope, and the quiet moments where insight often lives. The music blends a singer-songwriter and indie sensibility with thoughtful lyrics and emotional restraint, aiming less to impress and more to resonate. Each release is another chapter in an ongoing conversation about how we make sense of ourselves and the world around us.
Writing was the original foundation of Blocks of Life, and it continues to shape everything I create. I’m the author of several books, including Blocks of Life and Civil Living, which invite reflection on personal growth,
values, relationships, and the challenges of living thoughtfully in a noisy, divided world. My essays and blog posts focus on bridging everyday experience with deeper self-understanding — practical, reflective, and grounded rather than prescriptive.
Poetry and video allow me to approach the same themes from different angles. Poetry distills ideas and emotions into their most essential form, while video adds a personal, visual layer — a way to speak directly and humanly, without pretense. Each medium informs the others, creating a body of work that’s varied in form but unified in spirit.
Across music, books, poems, and videos, the purpose of Blocks of Life remains consistent: to explore what it means to live deliberately, to pay attention, and to build a life aligned with what matters most. It’s not about having answers — it’s about staying curious, honest, and open to growth.
I live in Maryland with my family, and I’m grateful you’re here — whether you arrived through a song, a book, a poem, or a quiet moment of reflection.
